1. The agreement

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Vikramshila Softwares ("we", "us") covering the CBSE Class 10 Companion application (com.vikramshilasoftwares.cbseclass10) and this website (together, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy forms part of this agreement.

2. Who may use it

Under 18? A parent or guardian must agree for you. Read these Terms together with them before you make an account.

The Service is intended for students preparing for the CBSE Class 10 board examination, and for their parents, guardians and teachers.

If you are under eighteen, your parent or legal guardian must read and agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy on your behalf before you create an account, and is responsible for your use of the Service. By creating an account you confirm that this has happened.

A parent or guardian may contact us at any time to review, correct or delete their child's account, as set out in the Privacy Policy.

3. Your account

  • Give accurate information when you register, and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • One account per person. Do not share an account, and do not use anyone else's.
  • Tell us promptly at vikramshilasoftwares@gmail.com if you think someone else has got into your account.

You may delete your account at any time by writing to us — see Your rights in the Privacy Policy.

4. Your licence to use the app

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own study. That is the whole extent of it — we are not transferring ownership of anything.

You may not:

  • copy, sell, rent, sub-licence or commercially exploit the Service or any part of it;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except where the law expressly permits it despite this term;
  • remove or obscure any copyright, attribution or other proprietary notice;
  • use the Service to build a competing product, or to train a machine learning model on its content.

5. Acceptable use

While using the Service, do not:

  • break any law, or infringe anyone else's rights;
  • access the Service by any means other than the official app — no scraping, no bots, no automated bulk downloading of the library, and no modified builds;
  • attempt to bypass, disable or interfere with security features, rate limits, or the server-side grading of tests;
  • attempt to gain access to another user's account, data or test results;
  • redistribute, re-host or sell material obtained through the Service;
  • upload or transmit anything malicious, or anything that would overload or disrupt our infrastructure;
  • misrepresent the Service as being provided or endorsed by NCERT, CBSE, or any school or board.

We may investigate suspected breaches and take the steps described in Suspension and termination.

6. Content and attribution

We are not NCERT or CBSE This app is an independent study companion. It is not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by NCERT, CBSE, or any educational board.

The study material in the Service comes from identified sources, and every file carries an attribution naming where it came from — visible to you on the chapter screen before you open it.

  • NCERT material — textbooks, exemplar problems and laboratory manuals — remains the copyright of the National Council of Educational Research and Training, and is provided here for students' educational use.
  • CBSE material — sample papers, previous year question papers, marking schemes and model answer sheets — remains the copyright of the Central Board of Secondary Education.
  • Reference solution books are credited to their respective authors and publishers, who retain all rights in them.
  • Trade marks and names — "CBSE", "NCERT" and any other names used to identify a source are the property of their owners, used here only to describe what a file is.

Nothing in the Service transfers any right in this material to you. You may use it for your own study; you may not redistribute it, re-host it, or sell it.

7. Accuracy, and what this app is not

We take care to keep chapter titles, papers and tests correct, and every chapter in the library carries its real printed title rather than a placeholder. Even so:

  • The syllabus is set by CBSE, not by us. Boards revise syllabi, deleted topics and paper patterns. Always check the current official syllabus and circulars at cbseacademic.nic.in before relying on anything here.
  • Tests and scores are practice. A score in this app is not a prediction of your board result, and carries no official weight.
  • Progress features are guidance. The chapter-mastery list and the weak-chapter suggestions are computed from your own attempts. They are a study aid, not academic advice, and they do not replace your teacher.
  • Where you find a mistake in our content, please tell us — we will fix it.

8. Advertising

The Service is free to use and is supported by advertising served through Google AdMob. As set out in the Privacy Policy, ads shown in this app are never personalised: age-restricted treatment and a maximum G content rating are applied to every ad request, for every user, before the ad SDK starts.

We control the placement and frequency of ads, not their content. Advertisers and their offers are not endorsed by us, and any dealing you have with an advertiser is between you and them.

The Service contains no in-app purchases and no subscriptions. We will not start charging for an existing feature without telling you first.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service running, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any feature — and the Service as a whole — at any time.

Where we discontinue the Service entirely, we will give reasonable notice in the app so you can download anything you want to keep.

Downloading and storing files uses your device's storage and, unless the file is already downloaded, your mobile data. Those costs are yours.

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will give notice in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not, stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account.

10. Our intellectual property

The app itself — its software, source code, design, layout, iconography, the name "CBSE Class 10 Companion", the Vikramshila Softwares name and logo, and any original questions, explanations or diagrams we write — belongs to us and is protected by copyright and other laws.

Your own data — your profile, your answers, your scores — remains yours. We process it only to run the Service, as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Copyright complaints

We publish study material with its source attributed, and we respect the rights of publishers and authors. If you own the rights in material available through the Service and believe it is being made available without authorisation, write to vikramshilasoftwares@gmail.com with:

  • a description of the work, and where in the Service it appears;
  • proof of your ownership or authority to act for the owner;
  • your contact details.

We will investigate promptly and remove or restrict access to material where a complaint is well founded. Because every file in the library records where it came from, we can trace and act on exactly what is affected.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account, with notice where practicable, if you breach these Terms — in particular Acceptable use — or where we must do so to comply with the law or to protect the Service and its users.

You may stop using the Service at any time, and may ask us to delete your account. Sections that by their nature should survive — content ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law — continue to apply after termination.

13. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, that it will be available without interruption, that its content is complete or free of error, or that using it will improve your examination results.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss of data, study time, opportunity, marks or examination outcome, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to ₹1,000 (one thousand rupees).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to the paragraph below, the courts at [CITY, STATE], India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of them.

Before starting any proceedings, please write to us at vikramshilasoftwares@gmail.com. Most problems are settled far more quickly by an email than by a court, and we will engage in good faith to resolve it.

Nothing here affects any right you have to complain to a consumer forum or to the Data Protection Board of India, or any protection you have under a mandatory law of the place where you live.

16. General

  • Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
  • Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest continues in force.
  • No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision on one occasion, we have not given it up.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours as part of a transfer of the Service, on notice to you.
  • App stores. Google and Apple are not parties to these Terms and are not responsible for the Service. Your use of their stores is also subject to their own terms.
  • Language. These Terms are written in English. Any translation is provided for convenience, and the English version governs.

17. Contact

Questions about these Terms, a copyright complaint, or anything else about the app — write to us and we will reply.
